Rishi
Sunak's - efforts to raise cash for the treasury could cost human lives
by the millions. He's not doing the Conservative party any favours, with
the chaotic application of non-policies, lacking any plan or vision.
Simply lurching from one disaster to another.
It is alleged that the real reason for
pushing back Zero Emission targets for the UK, is that Doctor
Death, is more interested in raking in Road Fund taxes and oil
revenues, no matter the cost to human lives in terms of cancer
victims - will be tremendous. Then, there are death duties. A win, win
for Rishi. The final chance to fleece workers of their hard earned
savings, as the Grim Reaper. It appears that he simply does not care
how he raises money to bolster the 10 years of Tory economic
mismanagement. Frankly, who would want to run the UK from now on. We are
so deep in the mire.
The
only reason to get into power is to profit personally from the
experience. Like Jacob Rees-Mogg's £16,800 in severance pay for his seven-week stint as business
secretary. Despite (23-10-23) being paid more than £750 an hour as a GB News presenter,
grabbed the payout when Liz Truss quit as prime minister.
This
is one example of how politicians reap rewards. Regardless of
underperformance, and without any
sensible plan to bail out our beleaguered Britain. We can think of no
other explanation for wanting to grasp the reins. If the only ideas are
to borrow more, or steal more money from the electorate. All the while
aiming at some kind of post politics number, as a reward for failure.
You
may think that the 'Cancer' in our society, is the Con-servative Party.
With emphasis on the 'Con.' For sure they are not a conservation party.
They appear to be pursuing policies 180 degrees in the other direction.
Their so-called leadership is more of a viral infection than Covid. A
plague eating away at our moral values, corrupt to the core, being
anti-transparent, as a prerequisite to deceiving the voting public.
Keeping them in the dark and feeding them bullshit. Or, treating voters
like mushrooms. With the British Bullshit Corporation (BBC) backing them
all the way, via selective reporting tactics, to steer public opinions. Allegedly.
The
PM should be pursuing renewables, and cutting civil service jobs to the
bone. Including considering replacing councils with AI programs, except
for jobs that need humans to provide services.
Let's
get Britain back to work, by making those armies of civil servant sofa
surfers, go out and get jobs where they actually have to crack a sweat,
to earn a crust. Perhaps, by building affordable homes and planting
trees? Or how about getting them to repair the potholes
their failures have (in effect) created.
DAILY MIRROR OCT 2023 - RISHI SUNACK ACCUSED OF 'BLATANT HYPOCRISY' OVER ROAD TAX 'RAID' ON DRIVERS
Rishi Sunak has been accused of "blatant hypocrisy" for claiming to be on the side of motorists after taxes for drivers soared on his watch.
The Prime Minister has vowed to end the "war" on drivers with plans to limit the roll out of low traffic neighbourhoods and blanket 20mph zones. He said last week that penalising motorists “doesn't reflect the values of Britain.”
But analysis by Labour found the Treasury is raking in £1.6billion more every year in vehicle excise duty than it was before Mr Sunak became Chancellor. The DVLA collected £6.4 billion from the annual licence fee on cars, vans and lorries in 2018/19, the last full financial year before he took charge.
However receipts are set to hit £8billion for the first time this year - and is expected to soar further in future as reduced rates for electric and hybrid vehicles are removed. By 2027/28, the Treasury is forecast to collect £9.4 billion in road tax, an increase of £3 billion - or 47% - in just nine years.
For the typical motorist, driving a car originally licensed after April 2017, it cost £145 to renew their road tax with the DVLA before Mr Sunak became Chancellor. Now the same motorist will have to pay £180 in road tax this year thanks to the annual inflation increases in the licence fee.
A Labour source said: “When Rishi Sunak talks about the war on motorists, he never mentions his own stealth raids on road tax. Millions of us are paying £35 a year more for our annual licence than we were before Rishi Sunak became Chancellor, and the Treasury is raking in billions extra from ordinary motorists as a consequence. It is blatant hypocrisy, but that’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from the man who said he believes in lower taxes, then delivered Britain’s highest ever peacetime tax burden.”
Mr Sunak has increased his rhetoric against "anti-motorist" policies following the Tories’ shock by-election victory in Uxbridge and South Ruislip. The campaign was dominated by the row over the expansion of London's ultra low emission zone (Ulez), spearheaded by the Labour Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.

RAC 12TH OCTOBER 2023 - MAJOR EUROPEAN CITY CONFIRMS PETROL & DIESEL CAR BAN
Stockholm – the capital of Sweden – is set to ban petrol and
diesel cars entering its city centre to reduce pollution and cut emissions.
[Three
cheers for Sweden]
The new regulations will come into force on December 31st 2024 – meaning that drivers have 14 months to prepare for the switch.
Lars Stromgren MP, the city’s Vice Mayor, said: “Nowadays, the air in Stockholm causes babies to have lung conditions and the elderly to die prematurely. We need to eliminate the harmful exhaust gases from petrol and diesel cars. That’s why we are introducing the most ambitious low-emission zone to date.
“Many cities have implemented low-emission zones where high-emission cars are allowed to drive if they pay a charge.
“Stockholm’s model is more far-reaching. Petrol and
diesel cars are prohibited, period. It is more ‘ultra’ than the ultra-low emission zone of London.
“We have chosen an area where large numbers of cyclists and pedestrians are exposed to unhealthy air on a daily basis. It is also a part of the city that is home to forward-thinking companies that are keen to lead the transition to a more sustainable future.”
This announcement is the first of its kind to be introduced into a major city across the world.
The petrol and diesel car ban will cover 20 areas in Stockholm’s city centre.
This will mean that these vehicles will not be allowed to travel in the areas of Kungsgatan, Birger Jarlsgatan, Hamngatan and Sveavägen. The ban will cover an area of 180,000-square-metres.
According to the announcement from Stromgren, this will also aid in the city's goal to transition to electric vehicles (EVs).
From 2025, low emission cars or EVs will be allowed access to these zones.
The plans will allow plug-in hybrid heavy goods vehicles and any emergency vehicles access.
Drivers will a disabled permit are not subject to the ban from the government.
BBC NEWS 20 OCTOBER 2023 - COVID INQUIRY: SUNACK CALLED DR DEATH BY TOP SCIENTIST
CORONAVIRUS PUBLIC INQUIRY
he government's new chief scientific adviser described Rishi Sunak as "Dr Death, the Chancellor" in private messages sent during a crucial pandemic meeting, the Covid inquiry has heard.
Prof Dame Angela McLean made the comment in a WhatsApp exchange in September 2020.
The government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme had been running that summer.
At the time, there was fierce debate about the need for social-distancing measures to control the virus.
On Sunday 20 September 2020, then Prime Minister Boris Johnson called a Zoom meeting of scientists to discuss the government's response to sharply rising Covid infections.
Dame Angela, then chief scientific adviser to the Ministry of Defence, who co-chaired the influential SPI-M modelling group during the pandemic, was one of the attendees, along with her colleague Prof John Edmunds, from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
'STILL ANGRY'
Then Chancellor Rishi Sunak also dialled in, along with senior Downing Street officials including Dominic Cummings, the government's chief medical adviser, Prof Chris Whitty, and the then chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance.
On Thursday, the Covid inquiry was shown a private WhatsApp exchange between Dame Angela and Prof Edmunds, sent at the time of the meeting, which refers to Rishi Sunak as "Dr Death, the Chancellor".
Prof Edmunds told the inquiry he was unable to recall if that had been a specific reference to the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, which had subsidised food in pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues over the summer, while Covid cases had been low.
But in earlier testimony to the inquiry, he said he was "still angry" about the policy.
"It was one thing to take your foot off the brake - but another to put your foot on the accelerator," he said.
'EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RISK'
Prof Edmunds told the inquiry 45,000 people had just died - and while the pub and restaurant sector needed support, the government could have just given them money.
"This was a scheme to encourage people to take an epidemiological risk," he added.
Asked about Prof Angela McLean's description of Mr Sunak as Dr Death and whether she should apologise, the PM's spokeswoman said he was allowing the inquiry to continue and would not comment on individual points raised by it.
Naomi Fulop, spokesperson for Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK, said the Eat Out to Help Out scheme contributed to the loss of thousands of lives and put unnecessary pressure on the NHS.
"When our current chief scientific advisor has referred to our prime minister as 'Dr Death', how can any of us have faith in our government if another pandemic strikes?" she said.
The Downing Street meeting had also involved scientists from what Sir Patrick Vallance described in an email as the "let it rip" brigade.
That included Carl Heneghan, a professor of evidence-based medicine at Oxford University, and his colleague Prof Sunetra Gupta - both of whom were critics of several lockdown-related measures.
In her WhatsApp exchange, Dame Angela uses an expletive to refer to an individual - thought to be Prof Heneghan - and his evidence, to which Prof Edmunds replies: "Every statistic is wrong."
'BRAIN DUMP' DIARY
Earlier in the day the inquiry chair, Baroness Hallett, ruled that only relevant extracts from informal diaries kept by Sir Patrick Vallance could be shown on screen and on the inquiry website.
Lawyers for Sir Patrick had called for restrictions on full pages being displayed, as this would breach his privacy rights.
Lady Hallett said it was "premature" to decide the issue now but she would monitor and review the situation after a challenge by eight media organisations including the BBC.
The inquiry itself is taking witness evidence in London until Christmas, before moving to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
GBN NEWS 25 SEPTEMBER 2023 - MAJOR CAR BRAND TO IGNORE RISHI SUNACK'S CAR BAN DELAY GOING ALL-ELECTRIC BEFORE 2030
Car manufacturing giant Nissan has pledged to go ahead with its all-electric plans despite the rollback of the 2030 petrol and diesel car sales ban.
The Japanese brand said all new models in Europe would be entirely electric by the end of the decade.
This follows the announcement from Rishi Sunak where he delayed a number of net zero proposals including moving the 2030 ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles to 2035.
The Prime Minister said consumers should be able to make the decision to buy an electric car and the Government should not “force” people to do it.
He highlighted how electric car costs are reducing, the range is improving and the charging infrastructure is growing, but said the upfront cost was still an issue for families.
The decision was met with mixed responses from industry experts and drivers, with some highlighting how the UK is now in line with other major economies, while others believed it would slow the uptake of electric cars.
The company confirmed that it would be “pressing ahead with plans to achieve 100 per cent EV [production] in Europe by 2030, with all new Nissan models from now to be all-electric in Europe”.
Makoto Uchida, Nissan president and chief executive, said: “There is no turning back now.
“EVs powered by renewables are key to us achieving carbon neutrality, which is central to our Ambition 2030 vision.
“Nissan will make the switch to full electric by 2030 in Europe – we believe it is the right thing to do for our business, our customers and for the planet.”
Before the self-imposed 2030 deadline, Nissan hopes to introduce 19 full-electric models and eight hybrid cars, the Guardian reported.
Further proposals include the rollout of “cobalt-free” technology to bring down the cost of EV
batteries by a staggering 65 per cent.
Many companies are striving to create batteries with a far quicker recharge
time, with Nissan doing the same.
With the aim of launching in 2028, Nissan hopes to manufacture a battery that can cut the time it takes to charge a car by one-third.
The Yokohama-based company also pledged to spend £35million on the Nissan Design Europe building in London, with the brand celebrating the 20 anniversary of its opening.
This will boost the number of staff, accelerate the development of technology and upgrade the facilities on site.
Nissan has held a presence in the UK for decades, with its Tyneside manufacturing plant supporting the jobs of 6,000 people.
Some of the brand’s most popular vehicles are produced at the Sunderland plant including the Qashqai, the Juke SUV and the ground-breaking Nissan Leaf.
As part of a previous £1billion investment in the production plant, Nissan will launch two new EVs, with one dubbed to be a successor to the popular Micra model.

THE GUARDIAN 26 SEPTEMBER 2023 - UK ELECTRIC CAR SALES RISK FALLING FURTHER BEHIND
The UK has fallen well behind the rest of Europe in the growth of electric vehicle sales and risks falling further back after Rishi Sunak’s “screeching U-turn” on its climate policies, according to industry analysts.
UK sales of electric vehicles grew by 31% in the 12 months to July, one of the slowest rates of growth in Europe, according to data analysed by Cornwall Insight and the law firm Shoosmiths.
The research revealed the UK’s electric vehicle (EV) growth rate fell well behind the near 61% increase in sales across the 27 EU nations. The report blamed a lack of public charging infrastructure in the UK, and warned that the government’s decision to delay a ban on the sale of new combustion engine vehicles could shake investor confidence.
The prime minister announced plans to push back the ban on new fossil fuel vehicles from 2030 until 2035 as part of a significant watering down of the government’s key climate policies designed to help Britain become net zero by 2050.
The unexpected U-turn has led to confusion among carmakers and electric vehicle infrastructure investors by raising uncertainty over how soon British drivers will make the switch to electric options. This could further delay expansion of charging networks, according to the report.
The analysis found the UK now has 11.3 electric vehicles for every publicly accessible charge point, leading to “range anxiety” for drivers considering buying an electric vehicle for longer journeys.
In the Netherlands there is 2.8 electric vehicles for each public charge point, while Sweden and Germany have 8.4 and 12.8 respectively, according to the data for Shoosmiths’ electric vehicle country attractiveness (EVCA) index.
Jamie Maule, a research analyst at Cornwall Insight, said the challenges to the UK’s electric vehicle rollout risked being compounded by Sunak’s decision to delay the ban on sales of new combustion engine vehicles.
The prime minister also signalled a slowdown in the phasing out of gas boilers and promised to scrap a requirement for landlords to make their properties energy efficient.
“This threatens to erode the country’s momentum in shifting away from traditional fossil fuel cars,” Maule said. He added: “Only by reaffirming our commitment to EV infrastructure growth, bolstering incentives, and rekindling investor and consumer confidence, can the UK reclaim lost ground and position itself among the leading nations in Europe for EV adoption.”
The index found Norway was the most attractive country in which to invest in electric vehicles, followed by the Netherlands, France and Germany. The UK ranked eighth in the league table of 15 European nations, down two places from last year.
Chris Pritchett, a partner at Shoosmiths, said carmakers and chargepoint operators were investing billions in the electric transition “but the government’s screeching U-turn on policy threatens new investment into the UK’s wider green industry”.
He added: “More importantly, it frames net zero as a political wedge issue ahead of the election which is clearly – and unforgivably – aimed at dividing the consensus on meaningful climate action.”
